Role of DARK FACTORIES for a Brighter Future

Image
By Dr.P.Sangeetha Over the past decade, much has been made of the advent of Industry 4.0. While experts argue over what stage of technology we are in, the majority agree that Industry 4.0 began with the arrival of the Internet and mainstream digital technology. The question to be asked is how Industry 4.0 differs from the other revolutions that took place before. The answer is quite simple, it is all about implementing automated manufacturing processes to increase productivity without compromising in the quality and quantity with zero wastage. We are in a period of profound change right now. COVID-19 has caused radical shifts in the workforce across the globe as millions practice social distancing. With all the disruptions, it could be said that COVID-19 has caused a premature change in industrial operations. It is merely accelerating Industry 4.0 adoption, leading companies into a more mature state of technology and workflow. The pertinent question is how are the manufacturers ...

BUDGETING THROUGH THE TOUGH TIMES

Image
By Dr.S.Johnsi   A personal budget is a tool to achieve personal financial goals. It is a financial plan that allocates personal income, expenses, debt repayment, and savings. The past income and expenses can be taken as a reference while creating the budget. Salary, rental income, and other income sources like interest income are consolidated under the head income. UNBUNDLING THE FINTECH GROWTH STORY

Image
By Dr.Deepa Venugopal Last week, I was reading through innovations & rapid growth happening in Fintech and accidentally hit upon the Article in HBR written way back in 1999 by John Hager and Marc Singer – it was titled “Unbundling the Corporation”. This article throws light on the fact why many traditional (powerful) companies could not sustain their growth trajectory by doing all the jobs in the value chain themselves, and how small companies in highly specialized business thrived and unlocked the business potential and became game-changers. So, what is it that slows the pace of behemoth growth as the years pass by? Hager and Singer explain that Interaction cost is the villain. Interaction cost refers to the money and time expended whenever people exchange goods, services, and Ideas (Hager& Singer1999). Keeping the interaction cost small will make organizations nimble. This helps in better organizing the business and maintaining a strong relationship with customers. The a...

Mood Freezing

By Dr.J.J.Savithri Anger is red hot. Like other instinctual drives, existential experiences and primitive affects, anger can be denied or repressed. And when anger is chronically repressed, it becomes problematical, pathological, toxic and potentially dangerous to self and others. The solution, however, is not to hit a punching bag: This will not make the anger, resentment or bitterness disappear. But it will likely provide some momentary release of tension. The misconception that was held for long was that venting anger is an effective way to reduce stress. Venting feels great. It feels like if you get the bad stuff out you’ll return to normal. An experiment was conducted in the year 1984. In the experiment the subjects after being deliberately annoyed were given placebo pills which according to the instructions were supposed to calm them or at least make them believe the same. When these participants are artificially infuriated and then given the fake pill, they both reduce ...
